Design Thieves Copied My Design

Lot of people copied my website design just like that. It is very sad to see our own design being used by others without any inputs from their side. We can have inspirations from others. But, not just copy & paste....

Check out some of those websites:
www.garryvalone.com
www.crabuildingandlandscape.com
www.jnsfamily.com

The funniest part is that most of the people are from the designing field.

Fahad, coming from the perspective of an amateur web designer, I have to say that your previous page designs were among my favourites (although I must say that I like the new design even more!). While I am inspired by the simple, elegant approach that you take and can understand why others might also find such inspiration, I'm shocked to see the examples you provide of such a blatant design ripoff. True, there's nothing to stop anyone from doing this but this soft of plagiarism is absolutely disgusting. I hope you let these idiots know that you have now made them "famous". You note that the irony is that these people are from the designing field but, beyond understanding the basic mechanics of putting together a web page, these trolls cannot in any way be considered "designers". Your work is creative and original while theirs is merely derivative. I am now going to send a "nice" note to each of those trolls so that they are aware that plenty of others know what sleaze bags they are. Keep up your great work Fahad! Your work inspires amateurs like me and probably a number of pros too. Yours is one of the sites I show to my friends and colleagues when discussing beautiful web designs. Plenty of us know who the real creative genius is!
    Best regards,

  2. It seems is a trend now to copy & paste other people websites. Look what happened in my case:

    original: www.blueraydesignbuild.com

    thief version: http://surrealmedialab.com/

We (me and website owner) have contacted the Thief hosting company, but it seems we have nothing to do with it.

  3. Hi Fahad,

Fantastic way to visualize the 'addiction' concept; nicely executed.

Looking at the comparisons, there's little doubt that these (ahem) 'designers' strayed way over the line. Okay, originality can be tricky, but treating someone's hard work as if it's nothing more than a template? Hmm. Surprising to note that there actually are people out there who think it's okay to pass off other people's work as their own - defending themselves with comments like 'well, it's not copyright'; as if that makes it acceptable.

'Standing on the shoulders of giants' is a useful phrase, if you're progressing a concept inspired elsewhere: blatantly copying and pasting without even one alteration should mean that John Cleese leaps out from behind your monitor and thrashes you repeatedly with a branch.

Congratulations on all your works and recognition; may it continue,

    Best regards,

Quite interesting so much has been said regarding the concern you have for the blatant plagiarism committed by other companies when creating their web pages. Could this be the reason we are unable to access one or two of your projects you have worked on? Symbiosis for example was a perfectly created plagiaristic masterpiece! Bravo!! Was it removed because the links left within the website deferred the reader back to the "original" website which shock horror, belonged to a different company? Or could it be that one of the companies whose work and creativity was 'stolen' happened to be owned by a US senator and was an open company on the US stock exchange? Perhaps they didn't take too kindly to the use of their well versed script being used by a small company within the Middle East? Hmmmm!

  5. We have never stolen any script or content for our client's websites. After finalising the website, we handover all files to the client. They do the updates then onwards. So, it's not our mistake if the client copy something from somewhere and keeping it in their website.

For the symbiosis website you can see what we delivered at: www.etag.ae/demo/symbiosis.
